Residentials offer a great insight into what studying engineering at university will be like and are a great way to evidence interest in a degree programme!
University Programmes
These are programmes run by universities to encourage applications to engineering courses. The majority of these have eligibility criteria as they aim to support the students who are under-represented at university.
Engineering Development Trust - Insight into University Residentials
The EDT runs a number of summer engineering residentials events at a handful of universities. Whilst these cost £400-500 there are a number of bursaries available.

Sutton Trust Summer Schools
The Sutton Trust works to address social mobility in the UK and runs a number of fully funded summer schools primarily for students from less advantaged backgrounds. Check to see if you meet the eligibility criteria, which include attending state-school, being a first generation university applicant or being from a low socio-economic neighbourhood, among others.

Oxford University Engineering Residential
Hosted by the University of Oxford and requires specific subjects and previous grades. Preference is given to under-represented groups.
Swansea University Engineering Summer School
This 3-day event has multiple engineering streams to chose from. The cost is £150 per student.
Cambridge Engineering Summer School
This fully funded residential allows students year 12 students to experience studying Engineering at Cambridge. It also requires students to have previously achieved given grades at GCSE level.

University of Surrey Summer Engineering Residential
A one week, fully funded exploration of studying engineering at university for students from less advantaged backgrounds. Check to see if you meet the eligibility criteria listed on the website.
Teesside Chemical Engineering Residential - Female Only
Covering chemical and process engineering, this free of charge residential is a two day long event hosted by Teeside University, specifically for female students.
